Despite the current situation, time has really flown. Our children have gone back to school, some have started new schools and we have finally re-started our group sessions.
We have all worked really hard to ensure that AIMS meet the Government requirements to stop the spread of Covid 19 and Orchard Manor School have worked with us to overcome any shortcomings. We were, therefore, lucky to welcome some of our families back on 26th September 2020. The school have installed some new outdoor music and play equipment which the children thoroughly enjoyed using.
Despite the majority of our major fund-raising events being cancelled, we have still been lucky enough to receive some wonderful donations since our last Newsletter. We received £100.00 from Patricia Heath, £500.00 from Mr and Mrs Tait, £500.00 from the Teignbridge District Council which we have used to purchase some new outdoor sensory equipment. Mr and Mrs Chislett kindly donated £200.00 and Nic and Lee Brigstow donated £100.00 from live music held at The Swan Inn in Dawlish. Mrs Adams who is a relative of one of our families, kindly donated £100.00 which she had saved from not going out during the lockdown period. Finally, we held our annual Leek Show, socially distanced of course, on 26th September 2020 at the group session and this managed to raise £240.00 for AIMS. Thank you to David and Fran Ashfield for organising this and for everyone else who helped make the event a huge success. And the results were as follows:-
Best in Show – Ron Diprose
Prettiest Leek – Tom Haynes
Queer Leek – Martin Parsons
Wee Leek – Ron and Jill from The Castle Inn
Dead Leek – Bob from The Castle Inn
Junior Leek – Lewis and Kieran from Aims
We are extremely grateful for these donations as this is an extremely difficult time for all small charities.
