Newsletter September 2016
We have been fortunate enough to take the children on several outings since our last Newsletter. We had a wonderful day out at Dawlish Warren pond dipping and insect hunting followed by some time on the beach and a picnic lunch together. The children had tremendous fun and the adults had a wonderful afternoon in the sun.
We also had a day out at Teignmouth back beach and the children were very good at catching crabs! Furthermore, we had a day out at Haldon Forrest where the children collected items to inspire an art project.
We were also lucky enough to have a local artist, Maya Brown, join us and the children assisted in making a piece of art that was part of the T.R.A.I.L. exhibition in Teignmouth.
Cooking and swimming continue to be particular favourites with the children.
We have been lucky with the weather over the summer holidays as the children really enjoy being outside and making use of the space we have.
Kathy Zebrowski has brought some fantastic new craft ideas to the group which the children love and they have made some fantastic pieces together.
Once again the annual BBQ at The Swan Inn in Dawlish was a huge success despite the weather not being that great. We managed to raise over £1,500.00 and are extremely grateful to everyone who attended and helped to make the day great fun. It was great to see two young bands perform and in particular to see Joseph Gillespie in action.
We held a pre-loved clothes sale at Holcombe Village Hall and despite the fact that it was a quiet day we still managed to raise over £400.00. Many of our volunteers and staff worked really hard to put the event together.
We were invited along to give a talk to the Moose Ladies of Teignmouth at the Alice Cross Centre. They were delighted to see our photos of the children in action and were kind enough to give us a donation too,
Once again a huge thank you to all of the Play-Leaders and Volunteers for your continued support and assistance and for making my role as Co-Ordinator such a joy.
