Newsletter April 2016

Unfortunately we have had to say goodbye to Gill Ashcroft.  We are extremely grateful for her help over the last year and hope that she will pop in and see us from time to time.

On an even sadder note, Mandy has tendered her resignation and will be leaving us on 23rd April 2016.  Mandy has been with us forever and I think we worked out it must be something like 17 years.  She will be hugely missed by all of us as she has seen so many of our children grow up and flourish.  Hopefully Mandy will pop in to see us from time to time.

On a happier note we now have Alfie, Abi and Greg who have joined us on a regular basis.  Greg and Abi are completing their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.  All three of them are absolutely fantastic with the children and it is great to see them in action.  They are all very willing and don’t wait to be asked they just get stuck in.  They are a great asset to us.  We are also extremely lucky to welcome Joanna who has been doing dance and music activities with the children after lunch.  Joanna is very good at engaging the children and several parents have mentioned how good the activities are and how much she brings out of the children.  On top of all that we are pleased to announce that Kathy Zebrowski has joined us as a new Play-Leader and will be doing craft activities with the children. And Kira has come back to join us.

We are now using PECS symbols for the activities that take place each week and we have a board displaying photos of the staff on rota that day which seems to be working well.  The staff are now all wearing name badges also.

Once again we have been extremely lucky to have received numerous donations during the last couple of months from Scott Richards Solicitors and Dawlish Art Group in lieu of Christmas Cards.  We have also received a donation from Teignmouth Estuary Rotary Club who raised this at Christmas by collecting outside Morrisons.  The Vale of Haldon Chapter have also very kindly donated from their alms collections last year.  Trinity School donated from a dressing up day and have also organised a gigathon in aid of AIMS. Hayes Travel in Dawlish have raised money for us by cycling from 7.00 am til 7.00 pm on 30th March 2016.  They would like to do a presentation of the cheque once all monies have been received.

As always, we are extremely grateful for the time and effort so many people have put in to raise money for us.  A big thank you to everyone.

AIMS have registered for the Teignbridge Recycling Scheme.

Dawlish Spiritualist Church once again very kindly donated the Easter eggs again this year for our Easter egg hunt which the children really enjoyed.

We have some wonderful activities and outings for the children lined up and I for one am looking forward to the next few months.

Thank you to all of the Play-Leaders and Volunteers for your continued support and assistance and for making my role as Co-Ordinator such a joy.

Claire
