The time has flown by and our children have had some fabulous outings since our last Newsletter. We have been lucky enough to go Pond Dipping at the Nature Reserve at Dawlish Warren, kayaking with Devon Windsurf and Canoe Centre at Decoy Country Park, visited the Orange Elephant Ice Cream Parlour and we have had a trip out to Haldon Forest. All this on top of our usual activities!
We have been lucky enough to have Jan Varvel join us as a volunteer and she has fitted straight into the group and really got involved in supporting our families and children. We also have a new Play-Leader, Bill Davies, join our team. Bill has brought with him a wealth of experience and has really complimented our team of Play-Leaders.
We have an ever evolving stream of new families joining us and our group has gone from strength to strength.
Once again we held a Sponsored Walk from Powderham Church to Turf Locks and back and our children managed to raise the massive sum of £758.94 for A.I.M.S. The day was a huge success and a huge thank you to Clive and Zim for providing the children with Pizza and juice which they all thoroughly enjoyed.
We have again been very fortunate in receiving some wonderful donations and it is only because of the huge support that we receive that we are able to give our children some fantastic days out. We received the sum of £75.00 from a quiz held by Dawlish Water Rotary held at The Castle. We received the huge sum of £350.00 from Dawlish Home Aid being the proceeds of a coffee morning held on behalf of A.I.M.S. We were also lucky enough to receive a donation from Dr. P. Diprose. Finally, our annual BBQ held at The Swan Inn, Dawlish raised the massive sum of £1,781.00. Huge thanks to the many people involved in making this day such a huge success.
We continue to receive monthly visits from Lizzie Swinford from Dance in Devon which gives the children the chance to express themselves through movement. Our children really enjoy these sessions and it is amazing to watch then all join in and enjoy themselves. We were also lucky enough to receive a visit from Ashley Harris who is Disability Football Development Officer at Devon FA. Ashley provided our children with a football taster session. The children really enjoyed themselves and it was a pleasure to see them learn some new skills.
We have plenty more wonderful activities planned for the rest of the year. Thank you to all our staff, volunteers and supporters for all your hard work.
