We continue to welcome new families and they seem to have settled straight into the group which is great.
During February we were lucky enough to be invited by Funky Aardvark to display our photos and leaflets in their upstairs gallery.
We have had some outings which proved very popular with the children. We scheduled a second cinema trip and the children and adults thoroughly enjoyed watching “Trolls”.
We have had another great session at The Cave. Thank you to Robin for organising this for us. The session was well attended and a really good day. Robin gave the children some individual attention with a vast array of musical instruments and equipment to experiment with. After lunch some of the children and parents enjoyed a jamming session together. Kathy and Kira kept the children entertained with games and decorating biscuits and some of the children enjoyed a trip to the beach and the play park.
We recently visited the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth. It was a beautiful sunny day and the children loved cuddling the donkeys.
Donations seem to be steadily coming in. We received £297.00 from Devon County Council Locality Budget Payment which will be used to cover the cost of our trip to Clip ‘n’ Climb in May. We also received £10.00 from parents for the good work that AIMS does which was really nice. We also received a donation of £10.00 from a grandparent who came to visit us recently and was so impressed by the work that our play-leaders and volunteers do. We were also lucky enough to receive the sum of £87.00 from the collection tin taken to a party. The Cosens Institute very kindly continue to support us and we again received another donation. Club 41 in Dawlish gave us a huge donation of £250.00. Teignmouth Moose Home Circle have made a very generous donation of £200.00. A friend of one of our volunteers very kindly made a donation of £20.00 and some items of jewellery and hand-knitted hats. She also made some lovely knitted Easter Chicks and donated some chocolate for the children. The Teignmouth Inn, Dawlish have organised another charity quiz for us to take place on Thursday 27th April 2017.
The Spiritualist Church in Dawlish once again donated Easter eggs for the children. The children really enjoyed our annual Easter egg hunt and each went home with a lovely chocolate egg.
On April Fool’s Day we were lucky enough to receive a visit from Merlin the Magician. It was lovely to see so many happy children. Children of all ages joined in and thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and loved seeing the doves and the rabbit.
One of our parents entered AIMS into a competition and we won a huge roll of material. We have decided to make some wigwams as the children really enjoy den building.
Some of our parents enjoyed another night out which was a great success. It seems many of our parents are encountering particularly difficult times and it shows the strength of our group that parents can be so supportive of one another.
The children really are enjoying the group and swimming and cooking are always big hits. Slip ‘n’ slide again is another favourite and it is so lovely to see all the children whatever their age join in and have fun. Thanks to Kathy the children have made some fantastic craft items.
Once again a huge thank you to our dedicated play-leaders and volunteers who do such an amazing job and make AIMS such a special place.
