Newsletter September 2015

The summer seems to have flown by!  We have had another busy time at AIMS and continue to welcome new families.

The summer garden party held at Whitstone Farm, Bovey Tracy on 28th June 2015 was a huge success.  We were lucky that the weather stayed dry and everyone enjoyed a cream tea in the stunning surrounds of Whitstone Farm.  A huge amount of money was raised for AIMS and we also received numerous donations from this event.  One of our volunteers, Emma Howden and friends including Diggory provided fantastic live music and vocals.  We have since welcomed Gill Ashcroft as a new volunteer.  Gill has been with us since the garden party and is now “one of the family”.

We have had a couple of outings including a trip to Haldon Forrest and a Pier day both of which were popular with the children.

The annual BBQ at the Swan Inn in Dawlish took place on 6th September 2015.  It was a fantastic day.  A big thank you to the owners of the Swan Mark Teall and Kerry Rabbage who helped make the day great fun.  A massive amount of money was raised through an auction, cakes and jams made by Joy Matthews and Di Houghton.  Thank you to Steve Fairweather, Vinni Carter, David Walker and Rick and Juliet Ricard who manned the BBQ.  We were lucky enough to once again have some fabulous music provided by Robin, Brian Stefans,  Bill Belton and Andy Jones.  We were lucky to again receive a huge donation from Dawlish Bowling Club.

Robin has purchased a small pool table so the children can have a game of pool as well as table tennis each week.  As ever cooking, swimming and football are extremely popular activities.

The annual Conker Championship is to be held at The Castle in Holcombe on Saturday 14th November 2015.

The annual Carol Concert held at Luscombe Church is to be held on 16th December 2015.
